Located just north of Delaware's largest city, Bellevue State Park is a quiet, year-round escape from Wilmington's bustling sidewalks.
The park was once the estate of the prominent du Pont family, and the du Pont mansion is open sporadically for scheduled tours.
The property was acquired by Delaware in 1976, and the Division of Parks and Recreation has retained the historic charm of the site while providing many recreation opportunities.
Tennis courts, stables, gardens, woodland hiking trails and a fishing pond are among the park's features. There are roughly three miles of paved biking trails.
No entry fee is required from November through April.
