Situated seven miles south of Haines, Chilkat State Park offers spectacular views of Chilkat Inlet and the Rainbow and Davidson glaciers.
Visitors also enjoy wonderful views, with the help of binoculars, of seals, porpoises and whales. Nature enthusiasts have also been able to spot bear and mountain goats on the other side of the inlet.
Hikers relish Seduction Point Trail. This is an easy trail that follows the coast and weaves between woods and beach. The trail is six miles long and offers greaet scenery and wildlife viewing.
Another easy beach trail is the Battery Point Trail.
For those seeking a challenge, the Mount Riley Trail offers a vertical ascent, but the reward is a sensational view of the entire region.
The log cabin visitor center, staffed by volunteers, offers wildlife scopes. This park also enjoys a run of king salmon in early June.
The park also has a 32-site campground, picnic area, boat launch and trails.
